Dr. Joanna Nurse is a distinguished polymath who seamlessly bridges the worlds of high-level diplomacy, planetary health, and fine art. As Director General and Strategic Advisor to the InterAction Council, she leads "One Health for People and Planet," advising former world leaders on existential threats, pandemic prevention, and climate security. Her career spans influential roles within the Commonwealth — where she steered health and education strategies for 52 nations — the WHO, and the UK Government. A medical doctor with a PhD in violence prevention and a Visiting Professor in Planetary Health at Southampton University, Joanna’s expertise is rooted in both rigorous science and global governance. Beyond the policy sphere, "Jo" is an emerging expressive artist. Her vibrant, mixed-media landscapes — crafted with oils, beeswax, and marble dust — serve as a narrative for healing and hope. Inspired by the light of the New Forest, her work translates clinical public health goals into a visual "World that We Want," fostering an emotional connection to our environment. A Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science and Chair of its Planetary Arts Movement — X-ART — Joanna remains dedicated to a flourishing planet, weaving meaning and purpose through every initiative she touches.
